Maximus 2 FAQ (frequently asked questions)
Accounts/Game Data Saves
If you have either iCloud (Apple) or Play Games Cloud Save (Google) enabled and are connected, your game data will save in the cloud.
In addition, your game data (gold, continues, characters, items, map progress) is saved to our own server for an extra level of safety. It also allows players the ability to transfer their data to other devices (including cross platform).
If you encounter account problems, it's a good idea to go into the Accounts page through settings and double check you have chosen the right account. Contact us if you have any queries about your account in general.
With regards with how to restore a permanent purchase i.e. Premium Upgrade:

With regards with how to restore a permanent purchase i.e. Premium Upgrade:
- For iOS, you just need to press 'Restore Purchases' in settings (see below).
- For Android (Google Play only), you need to exit your app and reload it. Please give it 10 seconds to load.
Who is the best character?
There are 7 characters (as of June 2022). Julius, Otus, Scarlett, Bishop, Shishima, Penrose and Roland. They are all balanced to be good at a particular playstyle. Julius and Otus are considered 'starter' characters and are easier to play.
Who should I buy first?
If you buy the Premium Upgrade (mobile), you'll have access to all the characters (not skins). If you choose not to do that then Scarlett is the lowest gold unlockable character followed by Bishop, Shishima and Penrose. So, probably try Scarlett or Bishop first.
Will you add more characters and stages?
Yep, we have planned all of it out. The Dragon's Den expansion adds 5 story stages to the base game for a total of 15 stages (plus 1 Arena and 1 Siege for 17 total)
How do I dismount from the mount (chicken/owl/dragon)?
Hold the jump button
What's in the Premium Upgrade?
As mentioned above, you will unlock all of the characters in the game except the skins. You gain 25 continues and a continue refiller that refills continues for every 5 bosses beaten (as long as your total continue count is UNDER 20). You can customize your name in the multiplayer lobby (keep them clean), host private multiplayer games and be allowed to create up to 4 more game accounts (if you want to start over). We will be introducing several new characters and content in the future and we will add them to the Premium Upgrade - so you know you will be getting value over time.
Important: Premium Upgrade will be changing how continues are rewarded soon (in addition to earning off stage clears). We intend to set the player's continue count to '3' if that player ever drops under 3 and goes back to a checkpoint or starts a stage again.
How do I find special items (drops)?
The simplest thing to do is just play the game as you normally would beating stages and they have a chance to appear during the stage (automatically picked up).
Each hero can find special, unique items depending on the difficulty set.
Normal Mode = 1 special weapon
Hard Mode = 1 special weapon
Gamer Mode = 2 special weapons, 1 trinket and 1 armor
You can find them in both story and multiplayer.
How does the item system work? (It's not like Blackmoor 2)
Maximus 2's item system is more like an 'unlocking' system. Once you buy or find an item, that's it. It will be unlocked and you can equip or unequip it. You cannot sell or trade items in this game and there is no 'gacha' or 'loot box' mechanism anywhere.
Weapons, Armor and Trinkets are unique to each character so they are not shared.
What are the symbols next to some weapons?
There are 5 elements/colours on special weapons.
Fire - Deals x3 damage (highest direct damage)
Dizzy - Stuns a group of enemies for a few seconds (they'll see stars)
Poison - Deals damage over time
Light (Lightning) - Heals you for 10
Dark - Damages and knocks up enemies with an invisible force (a combo starter)
What do stats do?
Attack - Increases damage for attacks/punches, anything with an 'attack' icon (looks like a sword)
Health - Increases your total health
Magic - Reduces timer for first 'Super' ability. Increases damage for anything with a 'magic' icon (looks like lightning bolt)
Luck - Increases the odds of dealing a critical strike* and the chance for finding extra food
What devices do you recommend for iOS?
We try to support devices that are 5 years or newer from the date of launch.
iPad Mini 4 or iPhone 6 will be safe. MFi Bluetooth controllers from Steelseries are currently supported too. Xbox and Playstation will work for iOS 13.
We fully support all iOS resolutions.
What devices do you recommend for Android?
We highly recommend you play Maximus 2 with a device that runs Android 8+ and a mid-tier model from 2020+. It's very hard for us to test this game on budget phones or old phones with outdated hardware. We tried our best to optimize the CPU and GPU usage and there is a 30 FPS mode in Settings to cut power usage by 50%.
On a personal note, I (Simon) bought a Xiaomi Redmi 6 at the end of 2018 for $125 USD which runs the game at 40-50 FPS. Any mid-tier phone from 2020 onwards for a similar price should be fine.
Check out this website (3DMark) and search in the 'Search Best Smartphones' box. From our testing we found that phones with a score of at least 1200 were good enough to run the game at a high performance. My Xiaomi 6 scores around 660. Most mid tier phones are in the 1000's

Is there any way to reset my data to start over (using iCloud or Google Cloud Save)
Yes there is, it's recommended to have the Premium Upgrade first and create a new account using the account system. See the top of the FAQ For the settings/account page.
How do I unlock Gamer Mode?
You need to beat 'Hard' mode. This can be changed in the title screen. Be warned, Gamer mode is supposed to be a challenge.
Bluetooth Controller (that we try to support)
We fully support MFi (Apple's bluetooth controller) for all iOS devices.
We fully support Xbox and Playstation bluetooth controllers for all iOS devices using iOS 13+.
We widely support Xbox and Playstation bluetooth controllers for Android devices - there have been bug reports that Android 11 (2020) has issues with bluetooth controllers for everyone (not just our games). So you may need to upgrade your operating system to Android 12+ (do so with caution :p)
